I'll start off with the good, employees seemed nice enough and the atmosphere was unique. I stopped here for lunch between work appointments and I was not very impressed with the German options. There is a very limited amount of German options (at a restaurant that says it's a German restaurant. Which is ok I get that many people aren't into German food. I ordered the Jäger Schnitzel and was pretty disappointed in the food. For $16 I got a pretty bland pork chop, gravy, red cabbage, sauerkraut and what I assume was a leftover hot dog bun toasted. Spatzle would have cost me and extra $3.50. If you are looking for good, authentic German food look elsewhere. Also I noticed they do not have any German beer on tap!

We like the food here. Let's start with that. On a recent Saturday we took family to have breakfast at the Bierstube, but we made the mistake of arriving 5 minutes before the end of breakfast hours. The cook and waitress were both beyond rude to us. Openly hostile. These two should find different employment.

I had a pretty good angus beef burger from here. Me and my boyfriend ordered some fries and cheese curds to split and those were pretty tasty as well. The restaurant itself is quaint and cute. It has sort of a german-rustic feel to it. It has nice big booths to sit in and there are tons of framed pictures on the wall for amusement. The wait staff are really nice! It's not my first choice for a burger place, but they do alright at Bierstube.

I have gone back now three weeks in a row since my awful chicken experience. I have had two burgers and a grilled cheese and spaetzle with gravy. The burgers where just okay---not overly juicy---the gravy had a strong vinegar taste to it. The grilled cheese was on delicious bread but for 8.00 lunch special you only get a half of one and a side dish. I kind of left hungry. The service has always been polite but it is common for me to walk in sit down and "wait" at least five minutes even though they have recognized my arrival and are doing nothing else for me to get served. There are not a lot of options for me at lunch so I was trying to make this place work for me--but I think I've given it a good go and just not happy dishing out my hard earned dollars and not being satisfied.

A-OK. That's it. Not too fancy of a joint. The food and service is OK at best. The prices I thought were a little high on the food for what you get. The cheese curds are delicious though. They have a very light batter to them and they are tasty! The bathroom seemed clean. The atmosphere is dive bar like. They have a whole pull tab gambling area set aside as well. There are plenty of TVs. I would go back, but it's not a place that I would be craving to go back to anytime soon. Check it out. They have a German food offering to their menu that is unique if you're looking for that specialty.

I keep hearing commercials for this place and even some rave reviews; however, I wasn't that impressed. My salad wasn't green, there wasn't enough dressing, we had to wait forever for service, the steak was overcooked and it was just too much money for what we got. The worst part was that there was the most annoying drunk woman that I have ever some across and they didn't kick her out. She was disrupting everyone's meal with her obnoxious yelling, slamming glasses on the bar and falling over. Her company was just as annoying. Unless this is the only place open, I don't plan to return.

The burgers are good, the brats are better. The prices are actually very low if you catch it during happy hour. Mondays are the best, as the burgers are half price. Happy hour pricing still applies for Monday's as well. Me and a buddy can go and each get a beer and a burger and fries, and it's under $20 on Mondays. The service isn't always great, but the staff is very nice. It's become one of my favorite places to go. Breakfast is also amazing. Try the eggs benedict on pumpernickel bread. Tasty.

The Bierstube is a place I come to often in Inver Grove Heights. Kind of hard to miss if you've never been there before but is a nice place for a beer and a brat without feeling like our at some chain restaurant. I'm also a big fan of their ruban sandwiches. Plenty of big flat screen TVs to watch whatever local game is on. To some people that's important so I thought I would mention that. While you aren't going to be blown away by your visit (hence not giving 5 stars) the Bierstube certainly deserves an opportunity when thinking of a place to dine.

What a disappointment. I love German food and this was not German food. The Bratwurst was bland and the consistency of a hot dog. The Sauerkraut tasted like it was out of a jar and the potato salad????? I don't even know what that was. We also ordered the surf and turf. The steak was only Ok, not a very good cut of meat and the turf consisted of three breaded shrimp that had been fried until they were dark brown. The meal cost $35.00. I will definitely drive the Northeast Minneapolis to Gasthof Zur Gemutlichkeit for German food next time. I will say the service was excellent.

Alyssa & I had no plans this past Friday Night. Later on in the evening, a family friend called & asked us what we were up to. She asked us to stop by, drop Pheona off & to go out & enjoy ourselves for a couple of hours by ourselves. Well, anybody that has kids will jump at a chance like that! As we packed up Pheona & her things, we discussed where we should go out. Alyssa wasn't picky. As long as they serve alcohol, she said she'd go anywhere. I figured when we got to our friend's place, I'd take a look at what we have bookmarked & choose the closest place from there. That ended up being the Bierstube in IGH. A quick check with Alyssa. Goodbyes with Pheona. GPS programed & we were off. It was easy to find with the GPS, but without, it could be a little tough. The sign they have is old & faded. It's a little unassuming, too. I would have drove right past it if our GPS hadn't told us we have arrived. The parking lot is tough to manage if busy. It's a little strip mall of businesses. Some spots are meant just for that business they are in front of. When it is busy people just seem to make up their own spots. That makes some areas real tight. We scored a spot on the way end of the strip. The sign for the spot said it was reserved 4-9 pm on Monday-Thursday. All the smokers seems to congregate around the entrance, so walking in you'll get a big ol' whiff of cigarette smoke. It won't linger long, though. Because when you do enter, you'll walk right by the open kitchen. All the food smells will fill your nose. The kitchen looks out over the large dining room they have. Booths line the walls. Tables & chairs fill out the middle. Also, as you walk in, you're walking straight towards the bar. The restaurant was very busy. Only one booth was available. A couple of tables had openings. The bar had a group of 3 seats open. We took two of those seats. Tim was the barkeep this night. He has a commanding presence behind the bar. He came over, frisbeeing a couple of coasters at us. They landed at the perfect spot where a drink should be. I inquired about the tap beers He listed off 8-10. Alyssa went with a gin & tonic. I did a Schell's Amber. I was asked if I wanted a tall or short. I went with a tall. When the drinks were delivered, Tim asked if we wanted to look at a menu. It is the same menu as the other 4 Bierstubes. After a little hemming & hawing, Alyssa decided on the All-You-Can-Eat Friday Night Fish Fry. As did I. The Fish Fry comes standard with Beer Battered Cod, French Fries, Garlic Toast, & Coleslaw. Tim brought out our Coleslaw quickly. It comes in a nice sized bowl, full of shredded cabbage. On the side, they provide a plastic ramekin of Coleslaw dressing. The amount of dressing given was JUST enough for my liking. Alyssa would have liked a squeeze bottle, like they provide at other Bierstubes. Overall, it's a good Slaw. Fresh & crunchy. The dressing gives it the perfect tang. While waiting for the Fish Fry to come, a guy took up the open seat next to us. 75% of the Bierstube knew that guy & came up to say hello to him. Tim knew exactly what he wanted to drink, & after pouring it for him, he started up a conversation with him about how life was these days. Right about that time, fellow Yelper John O messaged, telling me this was the place he spent a majority of his childhood at. Yep. This is the people's "Cheers". Our Fish Fry's were served on large oval plates. Included: Two large Cod fillets Beer Battered, on top of matchstick French Fries. Next to a hogie roll swiped with garlic butter & grilled on the char-broiler. Also, a plastic ramekin of tartar sauce & the perfect wedge of lemon. We asked for some salt & pepper. When Tim brought the shakers over, we used them on our Fries, & dug in. The Fries were fresh & tasty. Perfect. The roll was pretty good. Because of it being grilled on the char-broiler, it had a wonderful smokey flavor. We enjoyed this. The Fish was the highlight. Perfect Beer Batter covered the flaky white insides. The Beer Batter was thick. So much so, I thought of the coating like chicken fry at first. But the Cod was so thick, that it didn't overtake it. Everything was in perfect balance. When Tim delivered our suppers, he told us that we were competing with the rest of the restaurant because they only had 8 more pieces of Cod left. In the whole place. I put in a reorder piece right away. That came when the salt & pepper shakers were brought. After we were munching for a bit, Tim came by with an extra piece saying this was the last one, & he made sure we got it. Very kind of him to "look out" for us like that. Alyssa told me to take it & she'd see if we could get a discount on one of our suppers, since she didn't take advantage of the All-You-Can-Eat option. She didn't need to, because Tim already did it when he brought the bill. On top of his game, Tim was. Our bill was just over $35 bucks after tax. $12.99 for the AYCE Friday Night Fish Fry. $10.99 for two pieces.
